First of all, you need to sign up with Zerodha for account opening. Below are the sign-up steps
Step 1: Click on the below Signup button. You will see Zerodha signup page in a new tab.
Step 2: Enter your Mobile Number as shown below and click Continue.
Step 3: Enter the 6-digit OTP sent to your Mobile Phone and click Comfirm as shown below.
Step 4: Enter your e-mail id and click continue. OTP will be sent to your e-mail. Enter OTP that you received on your email.

Documents Required
Before you proceed further, let us see the necessary documents required to open the account.
- Pan Card
- Aadhaar Card
- Mobile Number linked to Aadhaar card
- Cancelled Check/Bank Statement
- Photo/Signature Scan copy
Also, Income proof is mandatory for trading in Futures & Options. You can submit one of the below documents.
- Form 16
- IT Acknowledgement Copy
- 6-Month Bank Statement
- Latest Salary Slip
- Demat Holding Statement
- A CA Certifying your Net Worth
Zerodha Account Opening Fee
So let’s get into the content quickly. To simplify the zerodha account opening procedure, follow the step-by-step instructions below.
Step 5: Enter your PAN card number and your Date of Birth (D.O.B)
Step 6: Proceed further to pay account opening fee. You can pay using UPI/ Card/ Net Banking/ Wallet. Once done, click on Pay & Continue button. Complete your payment
Note: Tick the check boxes according to your requirement. Don’t tick the commodity check box if you don’t intend to trade in commodities.
Aadhar KYC (DigiLocker)
Step 7: Before you proceed further, you need to complete Aadhar KYC using DigiLocker. You can follow below steps to complete Aadhar KYC. Click on Continue to DigiLocker in the screen shown below.
Step 8: You will receive an OTP from UDAI. Enter your OTP and then click on Continue in the screen shown below.
Step 9: Click Allow button in the screen shown below to grant Zerodha access to your DigiLocker account.
Step 10: You will see a Success message as shown below after Zerodha has obtained your documents from DigiLocker. With this step you have completed Aadhar KYC. Continue with the next steps to update your profile.
Zerodha Profile Updates
Step 11: Enter your Marital Status, Parents details and Background as shown in the below screen and click on Continue button.
Step 12: In the next step you need to link your bank account. This account will be used to transfer money into Zerodha account to buy stocks. Withdrawal of funds will be credited to the bank account linked in this step. Once done with filling the details shown below, click on Continue to proceed further.
Note: Don’t forget to Tick check boxes at the bottom of the page
Webcam Verification (IPV)
Step 13: To complete Web Verification (IPV), follow the steps shown below.
Upload Documents
Step 14: In the next step, upload required documents as shown in below screenshot and click on Continue.
Also, Income proof is mandatory for trading in Futures & Options. You can submit one of the below documents.

Digital Sign Your Application
Step 15: This is the last step of your account opening application with Zerodha. Click on esign button and follow the steps shown below.
Step 16: Click on Sign Now button in the screen shown below.
Step 17: Enter your Aadhar number and click on Send OTP as shown in the below screen. You will receive an OTP to the mobile linked with Aaadhar number. Enter OTP received on mobile and complete the verification process.
Step 18: Finally, click on Finish button shown in the below screen. You will receive Login credentials on your e-mail in 1-2 days.
